London Borough of Southwark

London Borough of Southwark is located in South East London and has a population of approximately 245,000 people and 106,000 households. In January 2008 Orchard & Shipman were awarded a PSL contract to procure and manage 230 properties for families in housing need throughout the borough.

The experience of setting up contracts in Hillingdon and Spelthorne meant that we were able to finalise the contract details and very quickly begin advertising and marketing to attract landlords and subsequently commence property procurement within a short period of time.

Due to Southwark’s geographical location, running all aspects of the contract from our Uxbridge Head Office would not have been practical and so Orchard & Shipman opened a South London office to provide a local service for our tenant customers in Southwark. We were also able to utilise existing staffing arrangements in place at our Uxbridge office to achieve some efficiencies and economies of scale, in service areas such as maintenance and rent arrears management.
